The Preamble to Marriage

(ie. Declaration of What God Intended Marriage to Be)

Into this profound and lasting relationship, these two persons now desire to enter. If anyone can show any good reason why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now declare it. Also I require and charge you both, remembering that you are answerable to God, that if either of you know any good reason why you may not lawfully be joined together in marriage, you confess it now. Since no objection has been made, let us ask God's blessing on the union now to be formed.

As a seal to the vows you are about to make will you give each other the right hand. Would you repeat after me.

Bless this/these ring/s, O loving Lord, that being given and received, they may be signs of continuing faithfulness, and unbroken love.

As a visible sign of your commitment to one another, these rings are given and received. By this sign, you take each other, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness and in health; to love and to cherish, till death do you part.

By the authority committed to me as a Minister in the Church of Jesus Christ, and having heard you exchange your vows of love and faithfulness, I pronounce you to be husband and wife, in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Our Lord has said "What God has joined together, let no man put asunder"

Now may God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, bless preserve and keep you. The Lord pour out the riches of his grace upon you, that you may please him, and live together in holy love until your lives end. Amen
